Is body wash a good substitute for shampoo in certain situations?

i was takin a shower today and noticed i ran out of shampoo, so i washed my hair with body wash. Is that stuff bad for my hair? or is it better than just water? Is body wash a good substitute for shampoo in certain situations?
Way better than stinky scalp and dirty hair. A lot of body wash for men is for hair and body these days. So it is fine to use it once in awhile. No harm done. If you did it a lot and it wasn't the kind made for that.. it would eventually dry your scalp. Is body wash a good substitute for shampoo in certain situations?
Hopefully you used it sparingly as soaps and body washes strip the hair of it's natural oils and can damage hair by drying it out. use conditioner. once in a great while should not create a big problem
The marketers have really sold us a bill of goods. While there are some differences, there are a lot more similarities between body wash, soap, shampoo, etc.
You can use a bar of soap if you have to. It's no different than the perfumed fancy expensive stuff that they make you think you need.
It's happened to me, and I found the body wash left the hair dry like straw, so I just use water when there's no shampoo.
It's basically the same thing, so most likely not.
